Testing activity rose last month, with 860 RT-PCR tests and 14,750 rapid antigen tests conducted—up 25.5% from June. The overall positivity rate climbed to 10.9%, increasing by 6.8 percentage points.
As of July 31, Romania’s cumulative tally stood at 3,586,193 confirmed cases and 69,266 COVID-19 deaths since the onset of the pandemic.
Health officials emphasize the importance of vaccination, social distancing, mask-wearing, and maintaining hand hygiene to prevent the spread of the virus. COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, can cause mild to severe illness, with the elderly and those with existing medical conditions facing a higher risk of serious complications. Public health guidance includes staying informed, practicing good respiratory etiquette, self-isolating if feeling unwell, and following local safety measures.
