Rongmei Indigenous Forum of Nagaland (RIFN) conducted their general meeting on December 8 at Ragailong Colony Council Hall, Dimapur.
A press release from general secretary, RIFN, R. Kamei, stated that the meeting adopted a resolution to declare to the public as well as the government that RIFN is the only forum to address issues in regard to the 1313 recognised and enumerated by the government of Nagaland.
It added that with regard to recognition of the Rongmei tribe as one of the indigenous inhabitant tribes of Nagaland, RIFN was formed to protect and preserve the identity of the 1313 enumerated by the government of Nagaland. It also mentioned that Rongmei Indigenous Forum of Nagaland is a separate entity that was formed to work for the welfare of indigenous Rongmeis who had settled permanently in Nagaland prior to 1963.
