Rongmeis celebrate Gaan Ngai

Five-day long post-harvest festival of Rongmei community Gaan-Ngai was celebrated at Zeliangrong village (Tangnajeilong) Dimapur with cultural gusto and religious fervor from December 31 to January 4.
During the festival, prayers were offered to Tingkao Ragwang (The Creator) for peace and prosperity after harvesting crops.
The main highlights of the celebration were offering of holy wine to Tingkao Ragwang, shouting of hoi, extraction of sacred fire, lighting of festival torch, and presentation of traditional dances and songs.
