MOKOKCHUNG, JUN 18 (NPN): Rotary Club of Mokokchung hosted the official visit of Rotary International District 3240 Governor (2025 26), Dr. Kameswar Elangbam, at Rotary House, Mokokchung on Friday.
The programme began with a call to order by vice president I. Temsu Jamir, followed by the national anthem and welcome address. Club secretary Imlitemsu Jamir presented the secretary’s report highlighting activities and initiatives undertaken by the club. A special song was presented by the Interact Club of Eden Academy, while Interact Clubs from Eden Academy and Jubilee Memorial School attended the event.
Introducing the District Governor, Temsu Jamir highlighted Dr. Elangbam’s role as head of Rotary International District 3240, which covers seven states of Northeast India along with South and North Bengal and Sikkim, comprising 111 Rotary clubs.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Elangbam emphasized Rotary’s motto of “Service above self” and urged members to continue working for community development. He highlighted Rotary’s focus areas including education, literacy, water and sanitation, healthcare, mother and child care, and environmental protection. Stressing the importance of youth involvement, he said Interact Clubs play a vital role in building young leaders.
He noted that Rotary International has 1.4 million Rotarians across 221 countries and appreciated the contributions of smaller clubs. Commending Rotary Club of Mokokchung, he said that despite being a small club with 20 members, its active participation was making a difference in the town.
During the programme, 10 ceiling fans were presented to Senkalemba Government Middle School on behalf of the club, handed over by the District Governor. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by member Imtiyapang Imsong.
