Royal FC emerged as champions of the 2nd MKTD Open Futsal Tournament organised by the Mongsenyimti Kaketshir Telungjem Dimapur (MKTD) on March 3–4 at G.K. Rengma Turf, Dimapur. The tournament was organised as a fundraising initiative in aid of the “Homeland Tour,” an educational and cultural excursion to Mongsenyimti Village for HSLC and HSSLC students who recently appeared for their board examinations.
Royal FC secured the championship title and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000, while runners-up Fusion FC received Rs. 20,000. The two semi-finalist teams—Aspirant FC and NNG (The Nexus Network Group)—were awarded Rs. 5,000 each.
In the individual awards category, Imnasunep of Fusion FC was adjudged Best Goalkeeper and received a cash prize of Rs. 3,000. Dede of Royal FC was declared the Top Scorer and was also awarded Rs. 3,000.
The event was graced by Additional Commissioner, CGST, Dimapur, Sashi Wapang Lanu, as the guest of honour on March 3. In his address, he encouraged the youth to initiate more activities that promote social causes.
On the final day, Senior Supervisor, Department of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, Imtiwati Jamir, conveyed a message commending the organisers for linking sports with community welfare and youth development.
Sponsors including Godrej Enterprises Group (Authorised Partner – Matrix Enterprises), Living Water, and Rasoi – The Taste of Punjab supported the event by covering organisational expenses, enabling a larger portion of the registration fees and donations to be directed towards the students’ travel fund.
The organisers expressed gratitude to well-wishers, Dimapur Mongsenyimti Senso Telongjem, Dimapur Mongsenyimti Tamang Telongjem, participating teams and sponsors for their support in making the event a success.
