In a nail-biting finish, Royal Tribals Cricket Club edged past Maverick Cricket Club by just one run to emerge champions of the 4th Wokha District Inter-Club Senior Cricket Tournament 2025-26, held at the Wokha local ground on Thursday.
Electing to bat first, Royal Tribals posted a competitive total of 162 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Maverick Cricket Club fought hard in the chase but fell agonizingly short, finishing at 161 runs after 20 overs. Nchumbemo Humtsoe of Royal Tribals was named Man of the Match for his standout performance.
The tournament, organized by the Wokha District Cricket Association (WDCA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), ran from February 16 to 19. It featured spirited contests, tactical gameplay and showcased the growing passion for cricket in the district.
Guest of honour for the final, ANPSA Wokha unit president K. Edward Ngullie, lauded the players and urged them to persevere, train diligently and pursue the sport with dedication.
With this victory, Royal Tribals have etched their name in local cricketing history, capping off a tournament that will be remembered for its thrilling finale and competitive spirit.
