At least 366 candidates received appointment letters during 18th Rozgar Mela organised by the Assam Rifles at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Dimapur on Saturday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed more than 61,000 appointment letters to the newly appointed youth at the 18th Rozgar Mela Saturday via video conferencing.
The 18th Rozgar Mela was organised at 45 locations across the country. The newly recruited candidates, selected from all parts of India, would be joining various central ministries and departments including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, Department of Higher Education, among others.
In Dimapur, Minister of State (MoS) for Rural Development, Kamlesh Paswan, who graced the programme, said the Rozgar Mela initiative was a fulfilment of Prime Minister Modi’s commitment, taken in 2014, to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the country.
He informed that the Dimapur programme was part of the 18th edition of Rozgar Mela, adding that nearly 11 lakh youth had already been provided government jobs across the country in the previous editions through a transparent recruitment process.
Terming the day as a “new beginning”, Paswan said that receiving an appointment letter was not merely about securing a job but also about accepting the responsibility of nation-building.
He, therefore, urged the candidates to perform their duties with honesty, dedication and a sense of accountability. MoS reminded them that every decision they take in public service would directly impact citizens who repose their trust in the system.
Referring to Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, Paswan said today’s youth would be at the forefront when India completes 100 years of Independence. He urged them to work with the spirit of “Nation First” mind set.
Highlighting the Centre’s focus on the North East, Paswan said the region, once viewed through the prism of insurgency, was now recognised as “Ashtalakshmi”, reflecting its vast potential.
He said the Centre has been giving special emphasis to the region’s infrastructure development, road, rail and air connectivity, and reiterated that a developed India would only be possible when the North East progresses alongside the rest of the country.
Paswan also encouraged the youth to actively participate in sports and physical activities. He said that sports instil discipline, perseverance and resilience, qualities essential for both personal growth and public service.
Meanwhile, speaking on environmental concerns, the MoS highlighted the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign under Ministry of Rural Development. He appealed to all the appointees to contribute towards environmental protection, climate action and water conservation wherever they are posted.
MoS congratulated all candidates, and urged them to serve the nation selflessly.
Earlier, ARTC & School, Dimapur commandant, Brig. S.C.Pathaniya, delivered the welcome address, while message of Prime Minister was telecasted live.
