Rozgar Mela: Teli hands over 111 appointment letters

Union Minister of State (MoS) for Petroleum, and Natural Gas, Labour and Employment Rameswar Teli on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 111 recruits during the ninth Rozgar Mela function held here at IMC Hall.


The Rozgar Melas were held at 46 locations across the country, with three in the Northeast – Dimapur, Guwahati and Shillong. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday presented 51,000 appointment letters via video conferencing to newly inducted recruits in government departments and organisations across the country. Out of 111 candidates, nine were recruited in the health sector, three in the Food Corporation of India, five in the Education Department and 94 in the Indian Postal Service.


Addressing the gathering, Teli said that the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was creating new employment opportunities for men and women to make the country self-reliant.
Dwelling on the Rozgar Mela, he remarked that the selected candidates would contribute to building a self-reliant nation, which would also improve quality of life and economy of the country.


He stated that many steps were being undertaken by the oil companies under Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to promote employment, adding that the companies had also been advised to create maximum employment.


Asserting that the Central government was making efforts to provide better employment opportunities to women, he stressed that they were an important part of the country’s labour force, citing the presence of large participation of women in both the organised and unorganised sectors.


Teli further said that under the leadership of Modi, the country was continuously moving on the path of economic development and progress, adding that there was a continuous increase in employment generation in the last few years.


He pointed that unemployment rate had continuously declined, adding that the government had also paid special attention to promoting self-employment.


Later, NE-II Region post master general Som Kamei informed that the mela was a special drive held for filling up vacancies of the past that had been kept vacant.
