Newly floated political party in the state—Rising People’s Party (RPP), Tuesday alleged mismanagement in the construction of 300-bedded COVID hospital at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) in Dimapur.
In a press release, RPP said party members visited the under-construction COVID hospital on August 7, 2021 and alleged that the construction of the hospital was “mired in corruption as pointed out by MLA Imkong L. Imchen and the NPF Legislature Party (NPFLP).”
The party stated a two-storey building (45,000 sq ft) in Dimapur could be constructed easily within Rs.10 crore. With the Rs. 30 crore sanctioned amount, the RPP maintained that state government could have constructed at least two 300-bedded hospitals with at least one hospital provisioned for eastern Nagaland.
Reiterating that points raised by Imkong L Imchen, MLA, the RPP questioned why was tender not floated for the construction of the COVID hospital?
It also queried under which expenditure head was the construction of the hospital being sourced? Further, RPP questioned why was this project “conceived and implemented in a hush-hush manner, without discussion in the Cabinet?”
Asking whether Glocal Healthcare was involved in the construction of the hospital, the RPP said that according per website, Glocal Healthcare was not a construction firm.
Demanding that PDA government immediately clarify the points raised, the RPP also urged the NPF to follow up the issue from within the government since it was the first to raise the issue. It maybe recalled that the State government, Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) and Kolkata-based Glocal Healthcare Systems Private Limited signed a tripartite agreement on June 10 this year for additional 200-bedded Acute Care Facility (ACF) at CIHSR.
