RPP lauds State govt on FCA, UCC

The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has welcomed the state government’s decision to oppose/repudiate the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and Forest Conservation Act (FCA) in a special session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Claiming that almost every political party, civil society organisation (CSO) and the church had opposed either the FCA or the UCC, the party in a statement said the NDPP-BJP coalition had done the right thing in opposing these two contentious issues without any reservation.

Noting that almost every Naga had opposed the FCA and UCC, the party mentioned that the unity of purpose shown gave rise to the hope that despite their differences Naga people could live together without being divisive and destructive.

The RPP also congratulated all tribal hohos and churches for voicing their opinion on the two issues at hand.
The party further advised the state government to take the opinion of all political parties on the subjects.
Acknowledging that differences certainly existed on matters of principles and governance, the RPP claimed that every political party in the state was working for the welfare of the people, it being no exception.
