RPP lauds Yhome’s ‘honest admission’

Rising People’s Party (RPP) has expressed appreciation of the “honest admission” of Adviser School Education Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome who admitted that the Department of School Education (DSE) was in a “total mess”.

RPP in a press release, noted that unlike many of the leaders who had made a habit of shoving ills under the rug, the current adviser SED had set a noteworthy precedent which would hopefully inspire other politicians to follow suit.

Further RPP recalled that it had made clear on various occasions that the School Education Department was the worst managed and most corrupt department in the state.
It said while various ministers and advisers had come and gone, unmindful of the health of the department, the present adviser’s health report of DSE was a severe indictment on his predecessors.

RPP said that since Adviser had also asserted that teacher recruitment could not be done through Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) or Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB), it reiterated its demand that the department set up a Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRB), as was first mooted by it in 2022.
RPP also stressed that all interviews of potential teachers should be carried out by empanelled university professors. It reiterated also that under no circumstances should teachers’ recruitment should be conducted like any other departmental recruitment.

The RPP also appealed to the adviser SED to remove the post of principal director in the department as it served no exceptional purpose other than to render the office of the directorate redundant. It stated the post of PD had only made domain experts like the director of the department a rubber stamp.
