Drawing attention to the recent meeting between government of India’s representative for Naga talks, A.K. Mishra with various Naga Political Groups, Rising People’s Party (RPP) said his visit “has managed to excite no one.”
Recalling past several such meetings with NPGs on the plea of securing resolution of the Naga political issue, RPP asked Mishra to “stop visiting the state since he has nothing to offer except to raise false hope.” Further RPP reminded that as an astute person, Mishra should refrain from making frequent visits to Nagaland “merely to excite a few gullible minds” as neither he (Mishra) nor the Centre appear to have any real intention of resolving the Naga issue.
RPP also described Mishra’s visits as “wasting of Indian taxpayer’s money”. It also stated that Mishra’s visits were draining the limited resources of the state, because “the entire state machinery” was placed at his beck and call “every time he comes calling.” RPP said Mishra should not create the impression that he was doing something other than what he and his predecessors have been doing, in managing to keep the factions excited for decades.
Further, RPP said that the recent “so-called Common Execution Plan” to integrate Framework Agreement (FA) and Agreed Position (AP) for resolution, caused excitement among factions while the general public remain amused.
RPP also took on former interlocutor R.N. Ravi for throwing the FA “into the dustbin” and introducing the AP for “Nagas of Nagaland” which it said, only created “internal fissures within the Naga family.” RPP described Ravi’s 2019 “tactical declaration” that “Naga peace talks is officially over” a masterstroke that divided Naga society. It also claimed in the subsequent eight years , “Naga CSOs, factions and intellectuals fought over the cakes called FA and AP, while the clever monkeys watched until Mr. Mishra conjured another trick, now integrating FA and AP.” RPP thus, termed the latest proposal as “the art of doing something and nothing at the same time”, and that Mishra would likely remain “seemingly busy” until replaced.
RPP questions relevance of Mishra’s frequent visits
