RPP serves 7-day ultimatum to withdraw dept exam notification

Rising People’s Party (RPP) has demanded that the recent cabinet decision (July 14, 2021) and DPAR order dated July 16, 2021; to the fill up various posts totalling 1517 under 76 departments should be immediately withheld within seven days (with effect from August 13).

In a memorandum submitted to the chief secretary on August 13, RPP general secretary Amai Chingkhu and president of the youth wing Zhukhoi Chuzho pointed out that such move would violate the “undertaking (affidavit)” submitted by the then chief secretary to the Kohima bench Gauhati High Court (in the matter of PIL No. 11 (K) of 2015, ACAUT vs The state of Nagaland &Ors) where justice Suman Shyam in his judgment passed that “This court hopes and expects that henceforth the government of Nagaland would scrupulously adhere to the criteria laid down by notification dated 6/6/2016…”

It said that bypassing the NSSB and illegally empowering the departmental recruitment boards (DRB) to conduct the recruitment exams was contempt of court. RPP has therefore demanded that the vacant posts be advertised and filled only through the NPSC and NSSB recruitment exams.

The party also demanded that the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) be made functional immediately in-order to conduct recruitment exams for the vacant posts.

It warned that the party would be compelled to seek remedial measures if the government failed to act within seven days from the date submission of the memorandum.
