JAIPUR, MAY 19 (PTI): Rajasthan Royals (RR) produced a stunning batting display to defeat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by seven wickets in a high-scoring Indian Premier League encounter, keeping their playoff aspirations intact.
Sent in to bat, LSG were powered by a brutal innings from Mitchell Marsh, who smashed 96 off 57 balls. Marsh dominated the Royals’ attack, first adding 109 runs off 50 deliveries with Josh Inglis (60 off 29) for the opening wicket. He later shared a 64-run stand with skipper Rishabh Pant (35), ensuring LSG posted a formidable 220 for five in their allotted 20 overs.
RR’s chase was spearheaded by young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who stole the spotlight with a breathtaking 93 off just 38 balls. Opening alongside stand-in skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal (43), Sooryavanshi added 75 runs in 39 balls for the first wicket. After Jaiswal’s dismissal, he forged a decisive 105-run partnership with Jitesh Sharma, who remained unbeaten on 53. RR completed the chase in 19.1 overs, finishing at 225 for three.
On the bowling front, leg-spinner Yash Raj Punja stood out for RR, claiming two wickets for 35 runs.
