Rs. 83,552 recovered at Social Audit for MGNREGS and PMAY-G in Kohima

A total of Rs. 83,552 was recovered for 373 mandays, covering payments made to deceased individuals, non-workers, and migrants, during the first phase of the Social Audit District Level Public Hearing for MGNREGS and PMAY-G at DPDB Hall, Kohima, on June 6, 2025. The amount was handed over for deposit into the State NEFMS account, following MoRD guidelines.
The audit reviewed 30 villages under MGNREGS and 27 villages under PMAY-G, benefiting 595 individuals. The meeting was chaired by Project Director cum DPC (MGNREGA), DRDA Kohima, Kevilhoubei-u, with an opening speech by Assistant Director of NSSAA, Social Audit Unit, Imlirenla Sanglir. Observers included Mhathung Ngullie (EAC, Tseminyu HQ, District Administration), T. Arun Singh (AAO), and L. Ashwani Kumar (Office of the Accountant General).
During the hearing, District Resource Persons, Kelanu Thapo and Loluvole Thakro, presented key audit findings, which led to discussions on bookkeeping, household and Job Card mismatches, project transparency, enrollment of households without Job Cards, and corrective measures for timely disbursement of PMAY-G benefits.
The meeting was attended by officials from Kohima, Sechu Zubza, and Tseminyu RD Blocks, DRDA staff, VDBs, VCs, scheme beneficiaries, media personnel, and CSO representatives. Several resolutions were adopted, including capacity-building for Village Development Boards, maintenance of transparency boards, proper issuance of Job Cards, regular observance of Rozgar Diwas, and improved record-keeping at block and village levels. Under PMAY-G, resolutions emphasized displaying scheme logos with beneficiary IDs, prioritizing vulnerable groups, and increasing awareness among beneficiaries.
The meeting ended with directives for implementing agencies to submit pending action reports by August 30, 2025, ensuring smooth execution of the schemes.
