Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) 39th general conference was held at Tesophenyu village from December 18 -20.
A press release by RSU stated that on the first day, evening assembly of RSU was conducted with discourse on “Model Rengma organisation conference” with an objective for Model Rengma Vision 2030.
On day two, parliamentary secretary of PWD Housing, Er. Levi Rengma as chief host and chief guest stressed on the theme of the conference, “Aspire & Achieve” and encouraged the students to have “smart plan” to be specific, measurable, achievable, reliable and time bound. He advised them to utilize the tools of 5w’s; What, Where, Why, When, Who or Whom to achieve the desired goal.
He said that “our” society today is ridden by trust deficit and asked the congregation to be true to oneself and do the right thing. He quoted from the Bible, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” to encourage the students to sync themselves with the fear of the Lord in order to achieve their goals.
The valedictory function was graced by deputy commissioner, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan. He encouraged and exhorted the congregation stressing on the advantageous demographic dividend of the country with majority of 15-29 years age group which could boost the potential of developing the country, India.
Putting special emphasised on Rengma Nagas, he added that the young age group could play a critical role in fighting for the just right. He said that one should aspire for great things but do small things every day, making the right choice vested on each individual, to initiate things for change and making the best use of technology wisely to get connected in this globalised society. He encouraged the students to capitalize on their skills by positive channelizing and shedding all forms of negativity.
The cultural extravaganza by different constituent units witnessed vibrant cultural folk dance, folklore narration, act and folk song, taking the congregation back to the roots, reviving the rich glory of Rengma culture, history and tradition.
The programme was chaired by Asa Tep, invocation prayer by pastor TLBC, Shayhun Tsela followed by sequential events of the programme. Pastor, NTBC Meshenchu Kath invoked the closing prayer bringing the valedictory function.
Others who attended included Er. Picto Shohe, parliamentary secretary for industries & commerce and NIDC, Amenba Yaden and parliamentary secretary for agriculture Y.M.Yolow.
