Staff Reporter

Wokha, May 20 (NPN): With two-wheeler taxi services expected to be introduced soon in Wokha district, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Wokha on Wednesday conducted a riding test for applicants seeking issuance of permits at the office compound of the District Transport Officer (DTO), Wokha.
Altogether 43 candidates appeared for the test, while 11 applicants were absent. The applicants had earlier submitted their forms following the RTA notification inviting applications for two-wheeler taxi permits.
The riding test was conducted by a board comprising Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Khughavi P. Swu as convener, Assistant Enforcement Inspector Chumthungo Humtsoe, and Motor Vehicle Inspector Asaibe Guing as members. Candidates were assessed on balance, control, road safety awareness, and adherence to traffic regulations to ensure that only qualified and responsible riders are granted permits.
The entire process was supervised by the Extra Assistant Commissioner (Transport) to ensure transparency and compliance with prescribed guidelines.
Officials stated that the introduction of two-wheeler taxi services would provide employment opportunities for local youth while improving transportation accessibility, particularly in areas where commuting options remain limited.
