The 65th General Session of the Runguzumi Students’ Union (RSU) was held on December 28, at Runguzu village under Phek district, with Deputy Inspector General (PLG/Modernization) Nagaland Police, Vekhosa Kotso, as the guest speaker. The session was held under the theme, “Navigating towards Future Challenges”.
A press release by RSU informed that Kotso in his speech highlighted imperatives of preparing for uncertainties of the future while emphasizing the need for individuals and communities to anticipate potential challenges, cultivate a spirit of adaptability, and develop actionable strategies to tackle them effectively.
He also stressed on the value of staying well informed and proactive, encouraging the gathering to prioritize collaboration and networking as tools for growth and problem-solving.
He asserted that by fostering strong connections and engaging with diverse perspectives, individuals can better navigate the complexities of modern life. Kotso later encouraged the gathering to adopt holistic approach to life, placing equal emphasis on sustainability, long term impacts, and ethical considerations in decision-making processes.
He also took a moment to honor Rev. Khrutsoyi Luruo, a pioneering figure in education who played pivotal role in advancing educational opportunities in the region by founding one of the first schools in Phusachodu village. Reflecting on Rev. Luruo’s enduring legacy, he reminded the gathering of the transformative power of education and the importance of recognizing and upholding the contributions of such visionary leaders.
He also urged the students, youth, and parents to embrace values of respect, integrity, and hard work, and also to remain vigilant, prepared, and determined to excel.
Earlier, the presidential address was delivered by president, RSU, Besukhoyi Luru-o, greetings by former president, RSU, Pusalhu Keyho, and the programme was chaired by advisor, RSU, Vethita Ringa, while blessing was offered by Vero, the second oldest man of Runguzu Village.
LDU: Losami Drivers’ Union (LDU) observed its 32nd general session on December 26 at Ledepfu, Losami village under Phek district. Gracing the session as the opening guest, Wepe Mekrisuh, chairman Kohima Losami Union lauded the union for attaining 32 years and undertaking various welfare activities for the members and also to the community at large.

LDU was founded by Neipetsu Akami on December 26, 1992. Presently, the Union has 220 members. Mekrisuh maintained that drivers play an important role toward socio-economic development.
Encouraging the drivers to maintain driving etiquette, he stressed on the need to stay updated with the latest gadget in the driving sector. He also told the drivers to be well-versed with the road safety rules and safe driving.
He also called upon LDU to set up Motor Workshop on two lane highway along Phek- Pfutsero, which will benefit the vehicle users and also open job opportunity for the youth.
Earlier, LDU president Kewekhazo Tsido delivered presidential address.
The session was chaired by LDU general secretary Wewuhi Akami. Wenyi Mebou, pastor Losa Tephe Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings while welcome song was presented by Emhechebiu Kepfoh.
Vote of thanks was proposed by KDU vice president Neikupe K. Tara while Neikotsolo Mekrisuh, chairman CPC pronounced blessings. In the second session, LDU joint secretary Khronipe K. Tara presented the activities of the Union while finance report was given by finance secretary Chewu Khesoh.
The session concluded with benediction by Kewekha Lohe. Meanwhile, Kewekhazo Tsido has been re-elected as the president of LDU and Mechepe Khamo as general secretary among others.
