FBB Femina colors Miss India Nagaland Ruopfüzhano Whiso has sought support for the cause of Family Planning Association (FPA) India’s campaign to stop Gender based violence, in relation to the TATA Mumbai Marathon race in January 2019.
Family Planning Association India is participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon to be held on January 20, 2019 to raise funds for its work on Gender Based Violence.
Family Planning Association general manager, Vincent Belho stated that accordingly Family Planning Association is roping in different personalities including Ruopfüzhanuo Whiso, and she readily agreed to participate as a Youth Leader to raise funds through her own Fund raising page to support the cause. Ruopfüzhanuo appealed to Naga society to help her raise funds for the cause.
Ruopfüzhanuo along with FPA officials in a press conference on December 15 at FPA of India’s Clinic, Kohima addressed the concerns of young people, and said they were the biggest resource a nation but many are unable to realize their full potential due to cultural and social barriers and lack of education and other opportunities which result in violation of rights of young people.
This year, Family Planning Association India intends to support adolescent girls and young women to ‘Break the Silence Around Gender-Based Violence’.
Family Planning Association India, in partnership with all supporters, is looking at bringing about a change through funds raised at the TMM 2019, through sensitizing communities to prevent gender based violence, identify and help those in need to access care and support, and empower young women with life skills training to say ‘no’ to violence.
She mentioned that a donation of only Rs. 1830 will support one woman access critical information and services related to GBV, gain essential skills helping break the cycle of violence leading to improved health outcomes, and realization of her rights and dignity.

One in every three women in the world have experienced physical/sexual violence in her life, 27 percent of Indian women have experienced physical violence since age 15 (nearly 10 crore Indian women), three percent of every pregnant Indian women have experienced physical violence during their pregnancy.
