Rural housing scheme prog launched in Kma

Implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G), a rural housing programme in the state was launched by minister of Rural Development & REPA, C. L. John at RD conference hall on Wednesday.
Addressing the launching programme, C.L. John maintained that rural development had always been the priority, both for the government of India and the state government to alleviate poverty in the rural areas and improve the living standard of the rural people. Housing being a basic human want and necessity, special focus and attention has been given by launching a dedicated scheme specifically for providing houses in rural areas by successive governments, he added.
Stating that in the case of implementation of PMAY-G, it was the community through VDBs that would have to identify and select the beneficiaries as per SECC 2011 data, he expressed optimism that the VDBs would continue to play pro-active roles and ensure that deserving beneficiaries were not left out. He also reminded that state government has also come out with a 2030 Vision Document by incorporating all spheres of development, whereby he urged the officers to make full use of the various programmes implemented by the department so that the rural people were developed at par with urban dwellers.
Delivering the key note address, secretary RD, Kelei Zeliang mentioned that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-G) was formally launched at the national level by prime minister of India on November 20, 2016 and in continuation of this launch, the state of Nagaland has formally launching PMAY-G at the state level to give wide publicity of the scheme. Zeliang also pointed out some key features of PMAY-G, progress of the state, reporting procedures and also presented a brief history on rural housing programme in India.
The programme was chaired by director, RD, Metsubo Jamir while vote of thanks was delivered by joint director, RD, Imnukshila Jamir.
