Mount Tiyi College (MTC), Wokha, has completed earth cutting and construction of a hi-tech green house with electricity and constant water supply facility within the college campus for floriculture project.
A press release by MTC principal, Dr. Apeni Lotha stated that the project was a part of the ongoing vocationalisation of higher education and was being introduced under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), a centrally sponsored scheme of the ministry of Human Resource Development, government of India. It stated that the “national higher education mission” was a holistic scheme of development for higher education in India and aims at providing strategic funding to higher educational institutions throughout the country. One of its objectives was to ensure academic and examination reforms in the higher educational institutions.
Apart from the directorate RUSA, Nagaland, the college was very grateful to the department of Horticulture, Nagaland, for all the technical and material support extended to the institution for the success of this project. MTC has also thanked director Watienla Jamir; deputy director Dr. R. Elithung Lotha; DHO Mokokchung, Meyasashi; DHO Wokha, Kilemsungba andNorth Bengal Floritech, Watila Longkumer. The college has been co-ordinating with these officers right from day one and they have taken all the initiatives to help this college with their expertise and infrastructure materials. Without the support from the director, the institution would never have been able to acquire the expensive hi-tech poly house from the open market.
