MLAs, S.I. Jamir and Tovihoto Ayemi on Saturday attended an emergency meeting at the at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur, wherein the DC Kesonyu Yhome appraised them about the measures taken up to address flash flood problem in Dimapur.
Yhome also briefed the MLAs on the ongoing activities taken up by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Dimapur and about the standby arrangements.
According to government official bulletin, the DC also appraised the MLAs for requirement of more resources and manpower for addressing collapse of Chathe River Bridge at 4thm Mile on priority basis.
While referring to poor drainage system in Dimapur, S.I. Jamir highlighted the need to take corrective measures to address the issue in the interest of the city. On land encroachment issue, Jamir said
“Strong action should be taken against the encroachers.”
Tovihoto said that natural calamities was beyond human control but added that safety was essential as it becomes a question of human lives.
He also appreciated Dimapur district administration and DDMA for giving their best effort and working tirelessly in addressing the flood issue.
In the meeting, Commissioner of police Dimapur and other officers of the line departments also highlighted their preparedness report.
Besides the DC Dimapur and Commissioner Police Dimapur, the meeting was also attended by ADC headquarter, ADC Niuland and Medziphema, CMO Dimapur; EE R&B, EE PHED Dimapur, CEO DMC, administrative officers and DDMA.
