The Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK) has resolved not to entertain any proxy system of teaching in the area with affect from this academic year, while it also decided to hold up the salary of those teachers indulging in proxy teaching as final warning and report the matter to higher authority for necessary action if they are found continuing in such practices.
The resolution to this effect was taken in a joint meeting convened by SAKK of all Village Education Chairmen (VEC), Headmasters, Head Teachers, Teachers In-charge, SAKH, SATH, SATWO officials, Village Council Chairmen (VCC) and village leaders of Pughoboto area on February 7 in Pughoboto Town Hall.
The meeting was called to discuss about the education system in the area in order to impart quality education to the upcoming generation. After thorough discussion, the house resolved not to entertain any proxy system of teaching in the area with affect from this academic year. The house has resolved to hold up the salary of those teachers indulging in proxy teaching as final warning, while it also decided to report the matter to higher authority for necessary action if they are found to continue in such practices.
The house also resolved to prohibit selling of intoxicants, tobacco etc. within the 100 ft. of school compound. The method of non-detention policy was also discussed among the teachers and leaders. The feedback of this policy was that it was not quality oriented but quantity oriented.
Many teachers suggested that the government needed to review the policy as this system is not up to the expected standard. Teachers felt that students take advantage the policy as they are promoted even if they don’t study. After passing class VIII when the student appeared for board examination, majority of the students fail even to get a pass mark.
