SAKK, SDPDB Pughoboto undertake educational tour to Tuensang

DIMAPUR

Sümi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK), in collaboration with Subdivisional District Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) Pughoboto, conducted an educational tour to Tuensang from June 24 to 27 to study the “Sochunm Concept”—a community-based educational model developed by the people of Tuensang.
According to SAKK, “Sochunm” or “Smart House” in the Chang dialect, refers to re-imagined traditional dormitory spaces that now function as learning centres promoting academics, skills training, and cultural preservation among rural and urban youth.
During the visit, six unit presidents and four SAKK members interacted with local stakeholders, observed the centres, and explored possibilities to replicate the model in Pughoboto.
The team also heard from Rev. Achu Chang, executive secretary of Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen (CBLT) and NBCC president, who gave a detailed insight into the Sochunm philosophy.
SAKK expressed gratitude to Dr. Sukhato A. Sema MLA for funding and supporting the tour, and to ADC Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang, for initiating and coordinating the visit as well as hosting the delegation.
SAKK said the tour highlighted the importance of community-led education and hoped the experience would help bring innovative reforms to the region.
