All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) and Nagaland Government Higher Secondary Schools Employee’s Association (NGHSSEA) have threatened to launch “pen-down strike” in accordance with the principle of “No pay, no work” if the government failed to release pending salaries within two weeks and also provide written assurance that such delays would not recur in the future.
In a representation to the commissioner secretary school education & SCERT, the ANSTA president Kasheto Sumi, general secretary Pekingto Y. Jimo and NGHSSEA president Karen Sumi asserted that teachers of Nagaland have been facing persistent challenges due to the regular delay in the disbursement of their salaries.
“It is disheartening to witness this delay, especially in a month when the entire nation comes together to celebrate Teachers’ Day, an occasion dedicated to honouring the invaluable contribution of teachers,” the two bodies said.
ANSTA and NGHSSEA maintained that the delay not only undermined the hard work and dedication of the teaching community but also portrayed a lack of regard for the principles set forth by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
They said educators were committed to going the extra mile in shaping the future of students and serving communities. However, the two bodies said their dedication was met with disappointment when their basic financial needs were not met on time.
ANSTA and NGHSSEA has appealed to the department to rectify the situation by promptly releasing the pending salaries and providing assurances that such delays would not recur in the future.
