Minister of Women Resource Development & Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse inaugurated the newly constructed link road connecting Mezoma village to major hubs such as Dimapur, Kohima, Khonoma, and Sechü-Zubza on Saturday.
The project was executed by Thepfüsasie Kehie Kikramia peer group of Mezoma village, led by Thepfüsasie Kehie Kikramia, whose initiative aimed at improving village connectivity.
Speaking at the event, Salhoutuonuo commended the peer group for their foresight, collaboration, and hard work, emphasizing that the enhanced connectivity would not only serve Mezoma but also promote tourism and economic development in the Western Angami region.
She urged the villagers to safeguard their cultural heritage, drawing parallels with Switzerland and Khonoma, where cultural preservation has successfully boosted tourism.
Salhoutuonuo also highlighted the state’s infrastructure advancements under chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio’s leadership, citing key initiatives like the PMGSY road from Khonoma to Peducha, the ongoing Dzüdza–Khonoma road construction, the newly built International Standard Indoor Stadium at Sechü-Zubza, and the upgradation of the Sechü-Zubza Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Kehiekiju, Mezoma village, attended by community leaders, residents, and supporters.
Neisiesa Chüsi chaired the program, while Kikra Krüü Rokokedo Kehie delivered the welcome address. Kevingukho Sirie spoke on the importance of the occasion, and Rev. Visakuolie Chüsi offered a prayer. The MPYO presented a folk song, and Zhasau Sirie gave the vote of thanks.
