
State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland organised a trainers’ training program on “Writing and Documentation Skills for Extension Functionaries” on March 28 and 29, at SAMETI, Medziphema for ATMA Block Technology Managers (BTM).
A press release from SAMETI Nagaland, Medziphema director stated that the training was aimed at grooming ATMA functionaries from all districts with technical writing and documentation skills in the interest of enabling them write standard farm publications and success stories which, in turn will serve as a record of accomplishment at the grassroot levels.
The resource persons for the training program were Dr. NK Patra, assistant professor, Dr. KK Jha, professor and head department of Agricultural Extension; Dr. J. Longkumer, associate professor, department of Agricultural Extension; and J. Akato Chishi, senior technical assistant, department of Entomology, NU SASRD, Medziphema Campus.
Detailed theoretical and practical sessions were conducted on: Basic Communication and Documentation of activity reports/report writing; basic features of writing success stories; writing for farm publications; and preparing write ups for press releases to be circulated in local dailies.
Apart from the aforementioned topics a basic training on photography for documentation was conducted by J. Akato Chishi where the trainees were sensitized on topics that included photography tips and tricks, different types of lenses, handling cameras both indoor/outdoor locations for formal occasions such as demonstrations, meetings, trainings etc.
The valedictory function was chaired by Dr. Bendangmenla Tzudir, agriculture inspector, IETC. Aienla, BTM, Longleng and Akavi Holo, BTM Dimapur gave feedback on behalf of the trainees.
Addressing the valedictory program, Dr. Beremjungla, incharge bio-control laboratory, Medziphema congratulated the trainees on completing the very important training. She encouraged them to use the knowledge acquired when they document activities and to also spread these ideas among their colleagues.
The training program concluded with distribution of certificates and training handouts to all the participants.
Later, a vote of thanks was delivered by DPD SAMETI Sentinaro Longchar.
