DIMAPUR: State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a three day training programme for officers from the Department of Agriculture and ATMA functionaries on the theme “Entrepreneurial Opportunities through Integrated Livestock Management” from September 3 to 5, 2026.
The programme aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of extension functionaries on livestock based enterprises and integrated farming approaches.
The inaugural session was chaired by Janet Chishi, deputy project director, SAMETI. Delivering the keynote address, Bodevi Shuya, director SAMETI and principal IETC, emphasised the need to promote livestock management as a viable source of entrepreneurship, income generation and sustainable livelihood.
Resource persons included Dr. T. Gyaneshori Devi, assistant professor, Department of LPM, CoVSc & AH, CAU Jalukie; Imkumri Jamir, proprietor, Jenlik Farm; Dr. Mhatung, deputy director, Chief Veterinary Office, Dimapur; T. Senchumo Yanthan, Area Coordinator, Farm Livelihood, Niuland R.D. Block; Dr. Laishram Sunitibala Devi, Scientist, ICAR NRC on Mithun; and Dr. Jyotish Barman, Scientist (Fisheries), ICAR Jharnapani.
The training concluded with evaluation, feedback and participant interaction. During the valedictory programme, closing remarks were delivered by Bodevi Shuya, followed by distribution of certificates to all trainees.
