A two-day training program on “Low Cost Management of Green House Technology” for Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) functionaries was organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) on November 19-20 at SAMETI, Medziphema.
A press release by SAMETI stated that the training was aimed at equipping the extension agents with technical knowledge about the general basic knowledge about the construction and management practices of green houses.
Resource persons for the training program were technical consultant, Arvind Singh and assistant horticulture specialist, Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema, Dr. Moasosang. The participatory lectures covered topics on general green house construction, drip and fertilizer system, overview on green greenhouse and its basic management practices, low cost protected cultivation of focus horticultural crops. A practical session on rose canopy management and drip irrigation was also conducted.
A field trip to CIH Medziphema was undertaken with the participants where Arvind Singh explained the working of the institute and gave detailed technical inputs about each green house.
The valedictory function was chaired by DPD SAMETI, Tiajungla Longchar while feedback on the training was given by ATM Dimapur, Nengkhonen Hangsing and ATM Kiphire, Sentsuthung Yanthung.
In her valedictory address, vice principal, IETC Medziphema, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, encouraged all the participants to start practising the technology they learned during the training at home and lead by example.
The training program concluded with distribution of certificates to the participants by Dr. Watimongla Jamir and vote of thanks delivered by DPD SAMETI, Vikaho Chophi.
