SAMETI organises trg on soil health management

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland, organised a training program on “Soil Health Management” from June 16-18 at SAMETI, Medziphema. The training was aimed at preparing ATMA functionaries from all districts with knowledge about soil health for assisting the farming community in achieving sustainable agriculture. 
The resource persons for the training program were agriculture chemist, Agriculture Chemistry Laboratory, Temsuinla; AO, Bio-Control Laboratory, Dr. Imtionen; AO, Bio-Fertilizer Laboratory, Mhonchumo Lotha, and SMS (Soil Science) KVK Dimapur, Z. James Kikon. 
During the training, detailed theoretical and practical sessions were imparted on “Bio Fertilizer and its uses in Agriculture”, “Vermi Compost Technology for Sustainable Agriculture”, “Soil testing and its importance in agriculture”, “Methods of soil sample collection”, “Importance of Integrated Nutrient Management” and “Soil Health Management and Soil Health Card”. The trainees also visited Bio-Fertilizer, Bio-Control and Agriculture Chemistry Laboratory.
Further, the valedictory function was chaired by DPD SAMETI, Tiajungla Longchar, while feedback from the trainees was given by Bendangkumzuk Walling and Meciesunu Sakhrie, ATMA Longleng and Dimapur respectively. SMS (Soil Science) KVK Dimapur, Z. James Kikon, in his valedictory address encouraged the functionaries to rededicate themselves to the farmers and give their best service and efforts to the farming community. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by DPD SAMETI, Vikaho Chophi.
