SAMETI’s six-day Skill Training of Rural Youth programme concludes

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema organised a six-day Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) programme on “nursery management of fruits and flowers” from September 27-October 2, in association with National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad.

A press release from SAMETI informed that the training covered topics on nursery infrastructure, good nursery management, propagation by cutting and budding methods and others.

Hands-on practical sessions on semi-hard wood cutting, budding, wedge grafting and air layering were also conducted at Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema.

The programme was coordinated by deputy project director SAMETI, Tiajungla Longchar while resources persons were horticulture specialist A.K. Singh, senior technical assistant Mhasizotuo and JRF from CIH, Medziphema Junshi.

Certificates and training kits comprising of lime saplings and technical folders were also distributed to the participants at the end of the training program. Altogether, 15 rural youths were trained.
