SARDP project: Firms asked to halt works

Dismayed over non-payment of second phase property damage compensation under SARDP-NE road project, the SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) has asked that firms engaging in road construction to immediately halt the work and move away machineries on or before September 5, 2019. In a representation addressed to the DC Zunheboto, the committee convener Ghuvishe Zhimomi and secretary Kakheto Zhimo also stated that unless compensation was paid to the beneficiaries, the contractors/firms would not be allowed to execute works under affected villages except Xuivi village jurisdiction. SSAALWC stated that 90% of the beneficiaries were yet to receive compensation under phase-II alone.
