SASRD Alumni Associationto mark 25th anniversary

DIMAPUR

The Alumni Association of School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on October 20 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, SAS.
According to a press release issued by the Alumni Association of SASRD (AASASRD), the association was formally established on June 15, 2000, during a gathering of former students at the RD Seminar Hall, SAS Medziphema. The initiative was spearheaded by senior alumni including Hoto Yepthomi, Dr. K. Kire, Metsubo Jamir, K. Neibou Sekhose, and Dr. Akali Sema.
Founded under the motto “Quest for knowledge in the service of people,” AASASRD has evolved into a dynamic network fostering unity among alumni while contributing to agriculture and allied sectors.
The first office bearers were Neibou Sekhose as president and Prof. Akali Sema as general secretary. The association’s constitution, drafted by the general secretary in 2003, was later approved by the general body.
The emblem and flag of SASRD, designed by Temjentoshi, a B.Sc. Agriculture 2nd Year student in 2003, symbolize excellence, peace, and unity. The green flag was first hoisted on October 19 during SASRD’s silver jubilee, alongside the erection of a commemorative monolith.
The idea of an Alumni Guest House was mooted during a meeting on October 12, 2006. A successful fundraising campaign through a lottery draw in 2008 raised Rs. 13.50 lakhs, largely contributed by alumni from Nagaland.
The silver jubilee celebration is expected to be a landmark occasion, honouring the association’s journey and fostering future collaboration. All alumni and stakeholders have been cordially invited to join in commemorating the milestone.
