SASU Biennial General Conference underway

The 69th Biennial General Conference of the Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) got underway on Friday with an introductory session at Zaso Ground, Mima Village under Kohima district. The three-day session is being held under the theme “Metamorphosis of ideas and approach.”

Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, managing director, KOHIMAS, at the inaugural session on Saturday, called upon students to improvise ideas and better approaches to cope in the competitive world. “We should try to live better than yesterday, only then can you have a better society,” he said.
Reminding the students that obtaining degrees alone were not enough, he told the students to develop good characters, behaviours and positive attitudes to succeed in life and also know how to live and adjust into society.
While encouraging the students to attempt competitive exams, he reminded them that it was not just about appearing for the exams but about hard work and consistency to get through.
“Try to create history. Don’t just read History,” Dr. Rhütso asserted and told the students to not be discouraged if they fail in their attempt at competitive exams. He pointed out that there were many ways to earn a living. “Failure is not the end, success isn’t permanent” he said.
Ketholeto Anthony Zashümo, president SASU in his presidential address called upon the student body units to bring forth a common ideology, sacrifice individual interests and move ahead together.
The program was chaired by Thejakielie Yongo, invocation was offered by Medosalhou Rhutsu, pastor Mima Baptist Church; Angami Students’ Union (ASU) president Visako Rino; and Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) president Vimeyol Theyo.
