SASU on EAC up-gradation issue

Singti Area Students Union (SASU) on Tuesday reminded the state government over its previous representation to the Commissioner Nagaland, urging the latter to keep in abeyance the up-gradation of EAC Sitimi Hq to SDO (C).
In a letter to the Commissioner Nagaland submitted through DC Kiphire, SASU executive chairman, Tsipise Antony and president, Atingse Sangtam said the union had clearly pointed out earlier of the “complex unresolved social issues”, which was an impediment towards any developmental activities.
SASU said it had also asked the government to take note of the issues before proceeding to up-grade EAC Sitimi to SDO (C).
In this regard, SASU said that the Sangtam villages under the administrative umbrella of EAC Sitimi appealed to the government “to fully adhere to the laid down government norms, procedures and precedent while dealing with delicate social issues.”
“Any move to pollute the social fabric that has been maintained for generation, will be a blot to sacred social justice,” SASU added. Therefore, SASU urged the government “to be extremely cautious and not to be swayed away by people with ‘conflict of interest’ in the interest of peace and order.”
The proposal for up-gradation of EAC Sitimi to SDO (C) should therefore be kept in abeyance, it said.
SASU further warned that if the up-gradation of EAC Sitimi is taken up, the government would be held responsible for any unforeseen social complications or disorder arising out of it.
