Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has informed all that there would be ‘Saturday Weekly Market’ at Naga Shopping Arcade (Super Market) here from July 13. The forum in a statement felt that the Saturday weekly market would come as a respite for all Dimapurians who thronged markets across the Assam border on Sundays, especially for buying meat and vegetables.
Affirming that all these items would be available in the Saturday weekly market, especially the local pork and vegetables, the forum hoped that this would open up more opportunities for local vendors in particular and all vendors in general to sell their products right in Dimapur, which would be more convenient for them.
In this regard, a market committee too was constituted at an executive meeting of the DDCF held on June 24, with Temsupok Jamir as convener, Vikato Achumi as co-convener, and Zhekato Yeptho, Jasper Marak, S Bendang, Kato Yeptho and Bikash Brahma as members.
DDCF president Yibemo Kikon and geneal secretary Richard Haolai would be the ex-officio members of the committee. The forum appealed all residents of Dimapur to come forward and avail the opportunity of shopping right in their own weekly market in their city Town) on Saturdays, instead of going across the border on Sundays, and thereby spend quality time on Sundays with their family and friends or even have a meaningful rest day.
