SAWO, WAUK condemn alleged sexual assault of minor

DIMAPUR: The Southern Angami Women Organization (SAWO) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual abuse, physical assault, and mental trauma inflicted upon a 14-year-old girl by Seyienei-u, a resident of Phesama village, on May 12.
In a press release issued by SAWO president Visetsolie Sophie and general secretary Kikrukhonuo Pfukha, the organisation described the incident as barbaric, deeply disturbing, and unacceptable.
According to the statement, the alleged accused reportedly entered the victim’s residence while the family was having dinner and assaulted them without any provocation.
SAWO stated that such acts amount to a serious violation of women’s dignity, safety, and fundamental human rights. It further stated that such heinous crimes cause long-lasting physical, emotional, and psychological harm to victims.
The organisation urged the concerned authorities to conduct an immediate, impartial, and thorough investigation into the matter and to take strict legal action.
WAUK: The Wakching Area Union Kohima has expressed deep hurt and anguish over the alleged inhuman act committed by Seyieneiu Chutso, son of Neise Chutso, against a 14-year-old girl at Phesama Village. In a statement, the union strongly denounced the incident, describing it as a heinous act. It stated that the audacity and remorseless behaviour allegedly shown by the accused were not only violent and unlawful but also posed a serious threat to public order and human dignity.
