DIMAPUR: The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) on September 9 visited the landslide affected area at Phesama Village and expressed concern that no restoration work was underway despite the prolonged disruption.
According to SAYO president Zasitsolie Beio and general secretary Keneisel Tetso, the affected road, considered a vital lifeline for Southern Angami villages, also serves as a major link connecting Nagaland with neighbouring Manipur. The continued disruption has caused serious inconvenience to commuters and hampered the movement of essential goods and services.
During the visit, SAYO consulted the Phesama Village Council and Phesama Youth Organisation (PYO), who voiced concern over the lack of proper coordination between NHIDCL, government authorities and village representatives.
SAYO stated that the PYO president further highlighted the risks posed by the temporary bypass, which carries thousands of vehicles daily. Its steep and rocky terrain becomes particularly hazardous during heavy rainfall, raising serious concerns for public safety.
SAYO appreciated the Phesama Village Council, PYO and the people of Phesama for their selfless service and continued support to commuters during this difficult period.
In view of the urgency, SAYO urged NHIDCL to immediately commence restoration work and take necessary measures to restore safe and normal connectivity. The organisation assured its full cooperation and assistance to facilitate and expedite the restoration process.
