Sazolie College celebrated its 16th annual “Cultural Day” on September 27th at Vinizono Hall, a day dedicated to embracing and honouring the diverse heritage of various communities.
In line with the goal of promoting cultural sensitivity, students from various backgrounds showcased their traditional practices.
The event featured a display of traditional attire, where students donned the traditional clothing of their respective communities.
Highlight of the event included ‘Cultural Show’ competition of different tribes and cultural groups, including Chakhesang, Lotha, Sumi, Angami and Zeliangrong, Gorkha, the United Cultural Troupe, Eastern Nagas, and Ao.
The programme presented a diverse array of performances, encompassing folk dances, indigenous games, dramatic presentations inspired by folklore, and traditional songs.
In the competition, the Eastern Nagas won in drama and games categories. Gorkha secured the title in the dance category, while Angami and Zeliangrong claimed the position in the song category.
The event concluded with a closing remark, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting positive cultural values while discouraging tribalism.
