KOHIMA, SEP 11 (NPN): Sazolie College, Phezhü Jotsoma, organised an IBM SkillsBuild for Adult Learners (SB4AL) orientation and training session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in collaboration with Edunet Foundation at Vineizono Hall on Saturday.
The programme brought together students, faculty and staff for an interactive session on AI, digital skills and emerging technologies.
Delivering the welcome address, principal Dr. Gopal Chetri highlighted the importance of keeping pace with technological advancements and urged students to make meaningful use of emerging opportunities in the digital sphere.
Deepneel Majumdar, Learning & Development professional with Edunet Foundation, conducted the orientation on IBM SkillsBuild, familiarising participants with its objectives and opportunities. He emphasised the need for continuous learning and acquiring industry relevant digital skills.
Majumdar also led a session on AI fundamentals, explaining its growing applications in education, professional life and everyday activities. He noted that AI enables computer systems to perform tasks linked to human intelligence such as learning, problem solving, decision making and creativity.
A key component of the training focused on prompt engineering, introducing participants to techniques for effective communication with generative AI tools. Various approaches including zero shot, one shot, few shot, negative, iterative, prompt chaining and Chain of Thought prompting were covered.
The training featured practical engagement, allowing students and teachers to explore AI tools and understand their applications in learning, creativity and professional development. Majumdar stressed responsible and meaningful use of AI, underscoring the importance of digital literacy, critical thinking and informed understanding of technology.
Participants were encouraged to utilise IBM SkillsBuild as a platform for continuous learning and skill development. The programme highlighted the need to supplement formal education with digital and industry relevant competencies to enhance career preparedness in a rapidly changing environment.
The session concluded with emphasis on continuous upskilling, digital competence, responsible use of technology and lifelong learning, providing the Sazolie College community with practical exposure to AI while encouraging adaptability in an increasingly digital world.
