Sazolie, Patkai and St. Xavier colleges celebrate Graduation Day

Three colleges across Nagaland held their Graduation Day ceremonies on Saturday, celebrating the achievements of the 2022–2025 batch under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP).
Sazolie College: Sazolie College, Jotsoma, celebrated its 2nd Graduation Day on Saturday at Viniezono Hall, marking the academic achievements of the 2022–2025 batch under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) affiliated to Nagaland University.
The ceremony began with an academic procession and the college anthem led by the choir. Principal Dr. Gopal Chetri congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to uphold integrity and excellence in their future pursuits.
Vice-Principal Waloniba Jamir presented the academic report, stating the college recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.56, with four students among the Nagaland University toppers and 18 students securing a CGPA of 8 and above.
Awards for academic excellence were presented, including the Management Toppers Award to Bendangsola Longkumer (Sociology – Rank 2, CGPA 9.08), Thejasevino Meyase (Rank 3, CGPA 9.06), Bena Patton (Political Science – Rank 4, CGPA 9.05), and Taliba (History – Rank 9, CGPA 8.41).
Imlienla I. Aier (Psychology – CGPA 9.29) received the Mavericks Academic Excellence Award and the Alumni Academic Excellence Award. Bendangsola Longkumer was named “Student of the Year.”
Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. N. Vehuh, who was the commencement speaker, praised the sincerity of the graduating batch and urged them to embrace their identity and challenges with courage and a positive mindset.
The valedictory speech was delivered by Bendangsola Longkumer, and the programme was chaired by Assistant Professor Nzanmongi Kikon.
PCC (A): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) celebrated its Graduation Day 2025 on Saturday at Bundrock Auditorium with the theme “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.”
The ceremony began with an academic procession and invocation by Principal Emeritus and founder, Dr Tuisem A. Shishak. The MSSM Choir performed a special song dedicated to the graduating batch.
IFS officer and alumna Zuthunglo Patton, who delivered the commencement address, shared insights from her journey in the Indian Forest Service. She encouraged graduates to pursue meaningful paths, reflect on their strengths, and build careers beyond conventional options. Patton addressed the state’s high youth unemployment and urged students to consider entrepreneurship and creative avenues.
During the ceremony, degrees and medals were distributed. Bokekali P. (Political Science) received the Dr Satuo Sekhose Memorial Academic Excellence Award for scoring a CGPA of 9.75. A total of 16 students from undergraduate and postgraduate batches were awarded Gold Medals. The ‘Student of the Year’ and other academic recognitions were also conferred.
The ‘Charge to Graduates’ was delivered by Dr Renchumi K. Kuotsu, who advised graduates to live purposefully and serve others. Speeches were given by student representatives Temsurenla Longkumer and Vichiirielie Sechii.
Graduates were officially inducted into the Alumni Association by its president, Neikhalo Sono. The programme concluded with a benediction by Rev Zhabu Terhiija.
St. Xavier College: St. Xavier College, Jalukie marked Xavierite Grads Day 2025 at the college auditorium, with over 150 attendees. Chief guest Lt. Gen. Abhijit S. Pendharkar, GOC 3 Corps, Dimapur, emphasized discipline and character. Principal Rev. Dr. Fr. Francis S Cheerangal congratulated graduates and commended their academic and community efforts. Graduates were awarded certificates and mementos, and cultural performances highlighted the celebration. The event ended with a group photo and fellowship meal.
