
The Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu’s (SBAK’s) 7th Children’s Festival got underway at Lumithsami village under the theme, “Shine for Jesus” on January 11. The event will conclude on January 13.
A press release by SBAK media cell stated that at the inaugural service, Kakheto Kinny, head GB and ex-minister, welcomed the delegates and participants.
He was optimistic that by organizing a children’s festival, children would be raised in obedience and in fear of the Lord and this would impact the society by eradicating much evil. Children secretary SBAK, Aniholi Aye as speaker of the inaugural service spoke about how children should shine for Jesus right from childhood. She quoted Matthew 5: 16 and said that a person should exhibit faith and faithfulness beginning from childhood.
On Saturday morning, a graduation service was held where 212 Sunday School goers were officially promoted to participate in the youth ministry and Rev. Vitoshe Aye, pastor, Central Baptist Church Aizuto pronounced blessings on the graduates.
85 Churches participated in the festival and more than 3200 children are attending it. Saturday evening witnessed an extravaganza night which included activities such as ethnic wear display, singing, drama, painting, debate and extempore speech as the main attractions. Inakhu Chishi, youth secretary, Lujeka Assumi, assistant pastor Sumi Baptist Church Kohima and Atoka Chishi, lecturer ATC were the judges for the extravaganza night.
