Sümi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) hosted a joint cultural programme on Saturday to mark the Tuluni Festival, organised by its Youth and Women departments.
In a press release, SBCK Youth Department vice-chairman, Toino Awomi, informed that the event aimed to celebrate and preserve cultural identity while upholding Christian values.
Sümi Baptist Church Kohima Board of Deacons chairman, Lukheto Yeptho, in his Tuluni greetings, encouraged the congregation to retain positive aspects of traditional culture and discard practices that conflict with faith.
Various competitions were held, including traditional fire-making, top spinning, and hopping, with enthusiastic participation from members of ten fellowships.
Highlights included special presentations such as war cries, folk dances, and songs, along with a drama portraying the Morung system and customary marriage practices, showcasing the rich traditions of the Sümi community.
