Sümi Baptist Church Zunheboto (SBCZ), department of Music Ministry celebrated 25 years of its foundation under the theme “Good news is coming” (Psalm 98) from September 23 to 24. A press release from media cell SBCZ informed that former Associate Pastor (Music) SBCZ Inaholi Aye Rochill, who spoke on the theme, shared about her experiences and testimonies on how music played crucial role in the lives of everyone.
She recalled that during pandemic, when the entire nation was hit by Covid-19 and when many patients were in isolation they could reach out to them through music in different social media platforms. She further said that many believers had a wonderful testimony of their healings and comfort through music.
Stressing on the importance of music, Rochill cited an instance from the Bible in 1 Samuel chapter 16, where Saul the King of Israel was being tormented by the evil spirit. “He was desolate, frustrated and without peace however, when David began to play the music, the spirit of God intervened along with the Music and the evil spirit departed from him”. She therefore encouraged the congregation to use their talents for God’s glory.
Chairman jubilee planning board Bokaho Zhimomi, while delivering the jubilee greetings extended gratitude to all the pioneers of the Church music committee including those departed soul, mentioning that their good works would always be cherished.
Earlier on September 23, at the inaugural program, the jubilee monolith was unveiled by Rtd. Evangelist SBAK Nito Mount Rev. Henito Swu, and dedicatory prayer for jubilee by pastor SBCZ Dr. Hutton Sumi, while Associate pastor SBCZ general Ghunato Assumi, offered jubilee prayer and launched the souvenir.
The programme was chaired by associate pastor Sector Veto Sumi, special number by members of Margaret Shishak School of Music and church jubilee choir, while music director, SBCZ Vivikali A Asumi exhorted the gathering.
As part of the Music Ministry Jubilee, a band competition was also organised for all the town churches under SBAK (NM) where Sumi Baptist Church Kohima was adjudged the winner and Sumi Baptist Church Mokokchung as runners-up.
On the concluding session on September 24, Margaret Shishak School of Music and Strings Ensemble, Patkai Christian College enthralled the congregation with a melodious presentation. Music committee, office bearers both past and present and well-wishers were also felicitated during the programme.
