An awareness programme on mental health under the SBI Sanjeevani Clinic on Wheels, supported by SBI Foundation, was held on April 18 at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Pungro Centre, Type 1.
The programme was chaired by the staff nurse. In his welcome note, secretary of the implementing agency, T. Kirithong Sangtam, expressed gratitude to the SBI Foundation team for organising the awareness programme and medical camp. He said such initiatives were vital, especially as seasonal illnesses were common among students, and lauded the team’s continuous efforts in reaching villages and inspiring the people of Kiphire. A special presentation was also performed by KGBV students.
During the mental health session, Medical Officer from Nature SBIF Kiphire explained that health was not merely the absence of disease but a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being. He highlighted that poor mental health among young people was one of the leading causes of death, stressing that physical, social and mental health were equally important for overall well-being.
In his closing remarks, Longtili C., Project Lead of Nature SBIF Nagaland, thanked the staff and students for their participation. He shared that this marked the 11th awareness programme conducted by the team since the project began, alongside four sanitation drives and three specialist health camps in Kiphire. Despite challenges in remote areas, he said the team remained committed to reaching the last mile and improving health services in the district. The programme concluded on a positive note with encouragement for continued awareness and community health efforts.
