SBKK hosts 1st Men’s Open Volleyball Tourney

Sakhabama Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho (SBKK) organised the first edition of the Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament on October 2 at the Sakhabama Local Ground, under the theme “Let Your Action Shine.” The landmark event attracted a total of 22 teams from across Nagaland and neighbouring states, including Manipur and Assam, making it a vibrant showcase of sportsmanship and unity. The tournament was held under the supervision of the Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA), who served as match officials, ensuring smooth and professional conduct of all matches.
In a thrilling final, Zing Zing clinched the championship title, taking home a cash prize of ₹40,000. Zenith Kezo Town emerged as the 1st Runner-up, receiving a cash award of ₹30,000. The semifinalist spots were secured by Spike Squad Kohima and United Spikers Kohima. Individual awards were also presented: Best Spiker went to Vimechozo Thupre of Zenith Kezo Town, while Best Setter was awarded to K. Abinash of Zing Zing Kezo Town.
Speaking at the programme, special guest, EAC Kezocha, Limakumla Pongener, encouraged the youth to embrace sportsmanship and discipline, noting that today’s young people are highly enthusiastic about sports. She emphasized the historical roots of sports in ancient Greece and reflected on the modern Olympic movement’s goals of peace, unity, and international goodwill. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Neilasanu Sachü, Assistant Research Officer, Art & Culture, as the Valedictory Guest, with Vikhoto Kapu, Co-Convenor of the Organising Committee, chairing the session.
Earlier, the inaugural session was chaired by associate pastor, SBC, Pelesato Chüzho, while the welcome address was delivered by chairman SBKK, Visüzo Rhakho. The vote of thanks was proposed by Convenor of the Organising Committee, Thejangulie Yongo.
