Dimapur

Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE), Dimapur organised its Graduation Day ceremony on July 26 at Paul Bernick Auditorium, marking the academic achievements of students from the 2022–2025 batch.
Top History scorer at NU, Chunsen Matey, inspired the gathering by sharing her journey and expressing gratitude to parents, faculty, and friends. Her motto, “In all that you do, do it well,” encouraged fellow graduates to strive for excellence.
Guest of honour Prof. Dr. Zavise Rume delivered a motivating address, reminding graduates that “Smile always” reflects inner peace. He said education must go beyond literacy and develop skills. He emphasised that “Teachers are the heart of learning,” and called for compassion in education. Concluding his speech, he urged the graduates to face life’s challenges with courage and resilience.
The event also featured the release of the college magazine showcasing achievements and student creativity. Vice Principal Sr. Mercy gave the vote of thanks and encouraged students to be courageous and trust in divine guidance. Around 70 graduates took part in the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Modern College, Piphema held its annual Freshers’ Day on July 25 at the College Indoor Stadium to welcome new students.
Special guest Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom, Anesthesiologist and MD of KOHIMAS Hospital, shared his personal story to motivate students. He spoke about values of honesty and hard work, and cautioned against procrastination. Quoting “If not now, then when?”, he urged freshers to focus on goals and make the most of their college days.
He also shared Bible verses from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes to encourage students emotionally and spiritually.
The highlight of the day was the Mr. & Miss Fresher contest held in three rounds—traditional attire, talent show and final introduction.
