All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has sought immediate intervention of Higher & Technical Education minister Temjen Imna Along, besides recommending investigation by State Vigilance Commission (SVC) into misuse of scholarship fund by a section of officials of technical education directorate as per a comptroller and audit general (CAG) report.
In a representation to the minister, ANCSU president Katho P Awomi and general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso also demanded termination of those officials found involved in the irregularities by SVC. They said they had submitted a memorandum in this regard to the director of technical education on September 22, demanding a detailed report on mismanagement of scholarship fund by the directorate officials.
The representation termed the report submitted by the director (no. DTE/ESTT-2/13/206/0143, Kohima, October 1, 2018), claiming recovery of misused scholarship amount, as unsatisfactory as it did not provide details and particulars of those officials involved in misappropriation of scholarship fund.
Alleging that the director was trying to cover identity of the erring officials, ANCSU demanded stern action against him, if found guilty of misusing or abusing his authority. This, the organisation explained, was required to restore integrity of the department as recovering the misused amount was not the only answer and would not pacify or convince the student community.
