Principal Director of School Education, Thavaseelan K, has acknowledged that there may have been some oversight in the recent teacher transfer and posting process, admitting that the department may not have fully understood the ground realities as the data relied upon did not always align with actual conditions in schools.
His statement comes in response to widespread concerns raised by several student unions and organizations across Nagaland following the department’s February 10 notification regarding transfer and posting of teachers across Nagaland.
The directive ordered the immediate transfer of 840 Primary Teachers, 341 Graduate Teachers, and 191 GHT & UGHT teachers, instructing them to report to their new postings within seven days.
It further stated that no Travel Allowance (TA) or Daily Allowance (DA) would be provided and strictly warned that salaries would be withheld for non-compliance. Additionally, requests for retention or reconsideration of postings were not to be entertained.
Thavaseelan assured that the department understands the concerns of student unions and other stakeholders. He stated that the transfer orders would be reviewed, and necessary steps would be taken to address the grievances raised.
Thavaseelan reiterated the department’s commitment to ensuring a fair and effective resolution in the best interest of education and the public.
