School headmaster arrested for molestation

Tuensang Police Saturday confirmed that the headmaster of a private school in Tuensang was arrested on September 19 in connection with molestation case.


In a press note, SP Tuensang revealed that police received complaints from parents of the victims studying at Holy Angel School on September 19, that their children were being molested by their school headmaster identified as one Jose V.J. , hailing from Palakkod, Kerala.


Immediately on the same day, the police arrested the accused under various sections of the IPC and POCSO Act and registered as case under Tuensang PS. The SP said that statements of the complainants and victims were recorded during the investigation.


After completion of interrogation, the accused was forwarded to judicial custody on September 20, to enable completion of investigation. Prayer for recording of victim’s statement U/S-I64 CrPC was also been made within the stipulated time to court, SP said.


Meanwhile, SP said that SDPO Tuensang along with OC Women PS Tuensang visited the school and conducted a thorough enquiry to ascertain whether any other similar incidents had occurred in the school. However, the SP said that no similar incident was reported from the school.


NSCW condemns
Meanwhile, Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has condemned the molestation by the school headmaster in Tuensang.


In a press note, NSCW chairperson W. Nginyeih Konyak expressed serious concern over increasing crimes against women and children in the state. NSCW reiterated that every right thinking citizen should condemn such inhumane crime committed on the vulnerable section of the society and asserted that such case should be dealt with in a serious manner so that such incidents don’t arise in future.
